David C. Darnell
David C. Darnell is the former vice chairman of Bank of America (he will retire in June, 2016). In this position, he was responsible for the bank’s Global Wealth and Investment Management division, which includes Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and U.S. Trust, and was a member of the Bank’s executive management team. Darnell was instrumental in the Bank’s 2013 decision to become a Founder-level supporter ($500,000) of the Museum of the American Revolution. His family roots in Charlotte, NC go back to the Revolution. He has recently moved from Charlotte, NC to Tampa, FL, which will be his home after his retirement. Darnell joined Bank of America in 1979 as a credit analyst, and has steadily progressed to the top level of management. In previous jobs, he has served as co-chief operating officer, which included managing the Bank’s retail and small business businesses, the Bank’s coast-to-coast banking center and ATM networks. Other positions he has held at the Bank include president of Global Commercial Banking, Middle Market Banking group president; Central Banking group president; Midwest Region president; and Florida Commercial Division executive. Darnell currently serves on the board of directors of Watsco, Inc., is a member of the Queens University of Charlotte board of trustees, and serves on the national board of the Museum of Science and Industry.
